End of Year Review

Dear Parents and Guardians:

It has been an exciting year for our Owl athletic department! As we get ready for the upcoming school year, I want to take a moment to share our athletic accomplishments this year.

In the fall, our middle school boys cross country team won the conference title for the second year in a row, while the high school boys cross country team won their fourth straight conference championship. Senior Elliott Whiteside advanced to the semi state competition from the cross country team. Both our middle school and high school volleyball teams won their fourth straight conference championship while Senior My Kel Ivy was selected as the unanimous Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Our high school girls soccer team tied the school record in wins and advanced to the sectional championship for only the third time in school history, while our boys soccer team advanced to the sectional championship for the fourth year in a row. Our middle school soccer team won the middle school soccer conference championship, which was the first middle school title in school history.

In the winter, our boys middle school swim and dive team won their third city championship, while the boys and girls team combined set eight new school records. Our boys middle school basketball team won the conference tournament, which is the first conference championship in middle school basketball history. The high school swimming and diving teams both finished in second place in the conference. Our girls high school basketball team fielded a JV team for the first time in over a decade, while finishing in a tie for third place in the conference, which is our highest finish since joining the Pioneer Academic Athletic Conference.  Our varsity boys basketball team finished in 6th place in the conference.

In the spring, our middle school girls track team finished in second place in the conference as well as at the city championship while our boys team finished in fifth place in the conference. This year, they set four school records while earning 67 personal records during the season. Our girls track and field team finished in second place at the Conference meet while our boys team finished in third place. Kylie Wagaman, Maddie Hull, Ike Izah, Elliott Whiteside and Bryce Monroe each advanced to the IHSAA track & field regional meet while our girls 4 x 1 team of Mel Braught, Karena Wang, Constance Prater and Alanah Jones ran the third fastest time in school history. Our baseball team finished in a tie for third place in the conference, while our golf team finished in second place in the conference with Nick Tetel finishing in 5thplace overall. Our high school girls tennis team also finished in second place in the conference with Isabelle Berhman winning 1 singles and Morgan Wineinger and Corinne Meier winning 2 Doubles.

Finally, this year we had over 40 of our junior and senior student athletes earn Academic All-Conference status, which was the highest total in our conference.

We are looking forward to another exciting year next year for our Owls and are in the process of filling our current vacancies. If you know of any qualified applicants for the openings listed below, please have them send a resume to crwlodarek@bsu.edu.
