Grils Varsity Swimming & Diving at IHSAA Sectionals - Finals

The Owls walked away from the finals session of the 2020 IHSAA Sectionals this afternoon with another round of impressive performances. First was sophomore Karena Wang, who took 13th in the 200 Freestyle with a 2:21.78, a two-second drop off her best time last night. Next was junior Edie Ferguson, who took 7th in the 200 Individual Medley with a 2:29.03. Then it was junior Magda Alvis who took 13th in the 50 Freestyle with a personal best time of 28.86. Next was junior Emma Leedy, who took third in the diving competition and qualified for Regionals with a personal best score of 223 points. After Emma was Alvis again, who took 10th in the 100 Butterfly in 1:12.15. Next was Ferguson again in 14th with a 1:01.99. Then in the 500 Freestyle, junior Grace Moorman took home 8th place with a 6:13.15 followed by another 8th place finish in the 100 Breaststroke, going 1:20.41. The 200 Freestyle Relay team composed of freshman Grace Tagler, sophomore Hannah Smith, senior Imogen Horne, and junior Annely Aguila took 10th place with a 2:08.98, six seconds faster than their prelims time. Grace Tagler then took home a 16th place finish with a 1:26.84.

Finally, the 400 Freestyle Relay team composed of Edie Ferguson, Karena Wang, Grace Moorman and Magda Alvis went 4:09.20, which finished in 5th place and broke the school record they had previously set the night before!
